General Application Information

501(c)3 status and service area requirements

In order for us to consider an application, your organization MUST

• Be a registered non-profit group under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code AND
• Be based in Monroe County, or provide substantial services to the residents of Monroe County.

Application and Decision Timeframe

• Applications and suppporting documents MUST be submitted by E-mail.
• We CANNOT accept paper documents because the trustees are in 4 locations.
• Applications are accepted from April 1 - April 30, every year.
• Decisions are made Mid-June.
• Applicants will be informed of the status of their application by the end of June.
• We reply to ALL applicants - if we can't fund your request you will still receive a reply.
• If you have already submitted a 501(c)3 determination letter from the IRS (with a previous application) you do not have to send it again.
• We now require an internal financial statement for the prior CALENDAR year from ALL applicants.
• The Form 990 submitted can be NO OLDER than 2018 regardless of Fiscal or Calendar filing.
• Your audited (or reviewed) statement submitted can be NO OLDER than 2018 regardless of Fiscal or Calendar filing.
• All capital requests need at least one bid, Requests over $20,000 need 2

Application Specific Information

Which Application Should I send?

We have separate applications depending on what type of funding you seek.

The CAPITAL application is for building or buying things and also for scholarship endowments.

The OPERATING application is for organizations looking for funding for a specific program. While we do fund operating budgets, it is important to note that our funding is limited and we cannot guarantee that operating funds will be available year after year.

Regardless of which application you submit, you will also have to submit the Statement of Accuracy
